GL Group opened a new administrative building in Salyan

GL Group, Azerbaijan's first private energy company, celebrated the 30th anniversary of the "Contract of the Century" and Oil Workers Day with the opening of a new administrative building for its affiliate, Salyan Oil Operating Company, in Salyan.

The ceremony, held on September 17, was attended by Asif Zeynalov, Group Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Advisory Board of GL Group, Arzu Javadova, Vice President of SOCAR and Sevindik Hatamov, Head of Salyan District Executive Authority.

In his presentation, Ramil Asgarov, General Manager of Salyan Oil Limited, highlighted the functionality of the new office building, which spans about one hectare and has a total area of 1,610 square meters. It features 29 working rooms, a conference hall accommodating 88 people, a canteen for 60, and a guest house with six bed rooms. A notable aspect of the new building is its Centralized Monitoring Room, equipped with state-of-the-art technology to oversee fields and production processes.

The ceremony continued with a celebration of the 30th anniversary of the "Contract of the Century" and Oil Workers Day. Speakers underscored the significance of this historical event and acknowledged the ongoing success of the oil strategy, crediting the visionary leadership of President Ilham Aliyev and recognizing the contributions of oil workers. Asif Zeynalov presented plaques of appreciation to partners for their cooperation and support, as well as “GL CEO AWARD of Excellence” special awards to distinguished employees of GL Group.

Following the ceremony, participants visited the Garabaghli field, where they observed ongoing improvement works. Notably, this field is distinguished by the growth of Tamarisk trees. The care and protection of these trees reflect GL Group's commitment to environmental responsibility as an energy company.

GL Group, having entered the energy sector five years ago, stands as a success story of Azerbaijan’s national oil strategy. Established in April 2019, GL Group navigated the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, fluctuating oil prices, and global logistics issues. By staying true to its mission and vision, GL Group has emerged as a group of companies with a portfolio of five companies, which is recognized as a trusted partner of choice for mature conventional brownfield assets. The group's professional team, leveraging advanced technology, has halted production declines and achieved increased output for the first time in 20 years in Azerbaijan's largest onshore fields, Kursangi and Garabaghli. GL Group plans to drill new wells in these fields next year. Taghiyev Operating Company, an affiliate of GL Group, has enhanced operations in fields in the Absheron peninsula – Buzovna-Mashtagha, Gala, and Zira – by implementing innovative approaches.  In 2023, GL managed to stop the decline in oil production in these fields by more than 15% and increased daily output by more than 10% compared to the beginning of the same year.

GL Technical Services provides 24/7 workover and logging services using state-of-the-art equipment, significantly contributing to the country's oil industry.
