We are pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Rono, CPA, as Controller for GL Energy Operating LLC, GL Group’s North American operating entity.
Michael brings over 25 years of progressive accounting leadership, with extensive expertise across corporate accounting, financial reporting, FP&A, treasury, internal controls, audit, and strategic finance. Throughout his career, he has built a strong track record of scaling finance organizations, enhancing corporate governance and SOX compliance, driving ERP transformations, and partnering with executive teams on capital allocation, M&A integration, and enterprise value creation.
Most recently, Michael served as Controller for a Houston-based private oil and gas producer, where he directed all accounting and finance functions, including joint interest billing (JIB), revenue distribution, U.S. GAAP compliance, treasury management, taxation, and strategic financial modeling. His background also includes serving as Assistant Controller at Terra Energy, Financial Reporting Manager at PDC Energy, and early-career experience in investment banking at Bear Stearns & Co. and auditing at KPMG.
In his new role, Michael will report directly to Bill Pardue, PE, Executive Vice President, North America, while working closely with GL Group CFO Emil Jabrayilzade as part of the broader GL Group Finance function. He will oversee all accounting and finance activities for the U.S. operating assets while playing a key role in supporting GL Group’s strategic expansion.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Georgetown University and a Master of Business Administration from Cornell University.
