In 2021, GL Group, through its subsidiary GL International LTD LLC, signed a Risk Service Agreement with the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) for the rehabilitation and development of the block containing the Buzovna Mashtagha , Gala, and Zira oil fields. In the same year, Taghiyev Operating Company LLC was established as the operating company. These fields are located within the administrative boundaries of Baku and its surrounding settlements, covering a total area of 2,045.04 hectares under the agreement.
Buzovna-Mashtagha Field
The Buzovna-Mashtagha field is located in the northeastern part of the Absheron Peninsula, approximately 30 kilometers from Baku, between the villages of Mashtagha and Buzovna. Geologically, the field lies within the Kurdakhani Mashtagha-Buzovna anticline. Industrial development of the field began in 1941. To date, a total of 1,335 wells have been drilled, of which 135 are currently operated by Taghiyev Operating Company LLC.
Gala Field
The Gala field is situated 28 kilometers northeast of Baku, between the settlements of Bina, Gala, and Mardakan, and forms part of the Eastern Absheron oil and gas region. The first oil gusher was recorded in May 1932 at well number 20, marking the beginning of full-scale production. A total of 1,518 wells have been drilled at the field, with 90 wells currently under the management of Taghiyev Operating Company LLC.
Zira Field
The Zira field is located in the southeastern part of the Absheron Peninsula, just south of the village of Zira. Development began in 1957, with peak production achieved in 1959 at 163,000 tons. A total of 73 wells have been drilled in the field, of which 5 are currently managed by Taghiyev Operating Company LLC.
