We are delighted to announce the appointment of Farid Baghirov as Group Commercial Director at GL Group LLC, effective August 25, 2025. Farid will also serve as a member of the Group M&A team.
Farid is a seasoned business development and commercial leader with over 17 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, including international assignments in the UK, UAE, and Oman.
Throughout his career, he has developed regional oil & gas strategies for multi-billion-dollar portfolios and successfully delivered major business development deals, including new country access.
Before joining GL Group, Farid worked at bp in London as an Associate Manager in the M&A team, where he supported projects with a combined value exceeding ~$500 million.
He later moved to bp Oman as Business Development Advisor, where he successfully secured a pioneering green hydrogen farm-in deal.
In his new role at GL Group, Farid will focus on driving growth opportunities, strengthening commercial strategies, and enhancing Group economics through improved efficiency, processes, and procedures.
He will play a key role in supporting the company’s ambitious expansion plans and positioning GL Group as a globally respected mid-size operator.
Farid holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in International Economic Relations from Azerbaijan State Economic University.
