GL Group has launched a landmark drilling program that includes the first onshore horizontal well in Azerbaijan’s history.
The program is focused on reaching deep oil reservoirs at the Kursangi and Garabaghly fields in the Salyan district, developed by Salyan Oil Limited, an affiliated company of GL Group.
As part of the program, it is planned to drill a 4,000-meter vertical well, a deeper 5,000-meter vertical well, and a 4,400-meter horizontal well featuring a horizontal section of no less than 400 meters.
This drilling program marks the end of a 14-year pause in drilling operations at the Kursangi and Garabaghly fields and represents a strategic opportunity to increase production through the deployment of modern and innovative technologies.
To achieve these goals, GL Group has engaged leading local and international industry experts and established strategic partnerships with both domestic and globally recognized contractors.
This approach enables the application of international best practices at every stage of the program, contributing to higher productivity, improved operational efficiency, and reduced associated risks.
