GL Group, having entered the energy sector five years ago, stands as a success story of Azerbaijan’s national oil strategy. Established in April 2019, GL Group navigated the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, fluctuating oil prices, and global logistics issues. By staying true to its mission and vision, GL Group has emerged as a group of companies with a portfolio of five companies, which is recognized as a trusted partner of choice for mature conventional brownfield assets. The group's professional team, leveraging advanced technology, has halted production declines and achieved increased output for the first time in 20 years in Azerbaijan's largest onshore fields, Kursangi and Garabaghli. GL Group plans to drill new wells in these fields next year. Taghiyev Operating Company, an affiliate of GL Group, has enhanced operations in fields in the Absheron peninsula – Buzovna-Mashtagha, Gala, and Zira – by implementing innovative approaches. In 2023, GL managed to stop the decline in oil production in these fields by more than 15% and increased daily output by more than 10% compared to the beginning of the same year.
