Ahmad Babayev

Ahmad Babayev was appointed Group Information Technology Director of GL Group in August 2026.

With more than 20 years of international experience in information and digital technologies, Ahmad has worked across the oil and gas industry in Azerbaijan, Russia, and the wider Caspian region.

Prior to joining GL Group in 2021, he held various technical and operational roles at leading energy companies, including Karasu Operating Company and Baker Hughes. His professional expertise spans IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, digital transformation, technology operations, and project management.In his current role, Ahmad leads GL Group’s IT and digitalization strategy. He is responsible for ensuring secure and resilient technology operations, modernizing the Group’s IT infrastructure, and effectively integrating digital technologies into business and operational processes.

Ahmad holds a BSc in Multichannel Telecommunication Systems from Azerbaijan Technical University and an MSc in Environment and Petroleum Industry from Azerbaijan State Oil Academy.
