Mark Sawyer

Mark Sawyer was appointed a Member of the Advisory Board in January 2025.

Mr. Sawyer joined GL as Business Development Vice President in August 2019. In 2024, he was appointed Senior Advisor, Business Development and Commercial.  He led the GL activities to acquire Salyan Oil and Taghiyev assets as well as GL’s acquisition of a 25% equity stake in Gazelle Energy.

Mark has 42 years of broad international experience in the energy sector, having held a number of executive positions at ARCO, including Managing Director, Intl LPG Business Unit; Vice President, Business Development Global Energy Ventures; and Manager, Intl Upstream Negotiations, and later at Dubai Energy, where he was Chief Business Development Officer and most recently at Dragon Oil, where he led New Ventures and Business Development activity. He has extensive deal experience, across 28 countries.

Mr. Sawyer has a B.Sc. Degree in International Economics from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, USA as well as an M.B.A. in Finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, USA.  He has completed in-residence executive programs at Oxford University, UK and Harvard Business School, USA.
